About the event

Please read carefully as EKISC is offering 2 options for this course:

Option 1 - Industrial Vegetation Management: Pesticide Applicator Certificate – Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weeds  including exam and exam fees (3.5 days total).

Option 2 - Agriculture General Knowledge: Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weeds instruction plus add-on module: Agriculture (+0.5 day) including exam and exam fees (4 days total).

Note: Only ONE Pesticide Applicator Certificate exam (either Industrial Vegetation Management OR Agriculture) can be invigilated per participant during the 4 day period; however, participants who would like a second exam invigilation (to obtain both certificates) will have the option to take the exam on their own time at any Service BC office

Option 1: This course will prepare participants to write the provincial examination for the Pesticide Applicator Certificate – Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weeds. This course covers how to manage weeds on industrial land, roads, power lines, railways and pipeline right-of-ways including control of noxious weeds on private or public land. Participants will spend 3.5 days reviewing key material in the Ministry of Environments Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weed Pesticide Applicators CORE manual, including current noxious weed and herbicide legislation, impacts, safety, mixing herbicide, calibrating equipment, troubleshooting, pest management, and labeling. You may register for this course and take the Industrial Vegetation Exam. 

Option 2: An additional 1/2 day module will prepare participants to write the provincial examination for the Pesticide Applicator Certificate – Agriculture. In addition to learning the course material from the Industrial Vegetation Management course, this optional module will cover how to manage pests associated with agricultural production of field, orchard, nursery and greenhouse crops. This category is for custom applicators, private growers, and farm workers. You may register for this option and take either exam on the final day.

*Plase note, if you have not paid for the Agriculture Course you will not be able to attend the classroom session from 8:30 - 12:30 on Feb 28th; however, you will be required to return at 13:30 to write the Industrial Vegetation Exam. 

Recommended Pre-Requisites

1. Assistant Pesticide Applicators Training - this free training is offered online by the Ministry of Environment. Successful training participant will be enabled to apply pesticides to treatment areas under the supervision of a certified pesticide applicator, safely transport pesticides to work sites, take pesticides in and out of storage, and ensure security of mobile, temporary and permanent pesticide storage facilities. 2. A grade 8 or higher math competency is recommended. 

Course Fees

Participants can pay for the full instruction of both courses ($530) and choose to take either exam. 

Option 1 - $490: Pesticide Applicator Certificate – Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weeds (3.5 days)

Option 2 - $530: Pesticide Applicator Certificate – Agriculture (4 days)

Course fee includes $90.00 Ministry of Environment Exam Fee

Course fees do not include costs for texts and course training manauals: $90 (Industrial) + $90 (Agriculture) (please purchase these prior to attending the course)

Books borrowed from friends or used from previous classes are acceptable.


Location will be at St. Eugene Resort and Casino lower level Columbia Lake meeting room. Just a 15 minute drive from Cranbrook. 

Lunch: Bagged lunches form home are ok; however, there is also the Numa lounge right up stairs available for lunch if you would like to pre order and have in or take to go to their meeting room. The Casino of the Rockies as well has some great menu priced items they can get to go or eat in the new restaurant area in there.


Cancellations for training sessions hosted by EKISC must be received in writing (via email) at least 14 business days (11 Feb 2020) in advance of the session start date in order to receive a full refund. No refunds will be provided after 14 days in advance of the course start date.

EKISC needs a minimum number of participants to run this course and we reserve the right to cancel the course if the minimum number is not met. EKISC will not cancel the course after 12 FEB 2020.
