About the event
Strategic Approaches is a full day course developed as the pinnacle of our invasive plant management courses, with the goal of expanding the knowledge of working professionals and drawing from diverse of experiences. This course familiarizes participants with invasive plant management at a professional level, integrating balanced approach of practical field skills into advanced management work. Topics include:
• Developing goals and objectives
• Prioritizing target species
• Creating treatment plans
• Planning for monitoring
• Integrating adaptive management
Who is this course for?
Management professionals, land managers, and other interested individuals. Most of the weed management techniques can also be extended to industrial sites, roadsides, and lands used for producing crops.
Participants should be able to identify locally invasive plants or have taken an Invasive Plant Biology and Identification course.
Participants should have an understanding of mapping and reporting techniques or have taken a Field Techniques for Recording and Reporting course.
Participants should know the basics approaches to control and manage invasive plants species or have taken an Effective Weed Control course.
Participants must provide a laptop computer.

• Plant ID book and Priority Plant Inventory
• Sample Invasive Plant Management Plans
** Boxed lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided.
** Participants should come prepared to go outside at some point in the day.
Participants will write a basic invasive plant management plan and be evaluated on completion. Certificates will be awarded to passing participants.
