About the event

East Kootenay Invasive Species Council is joining Lazy Lake Environmental Association for Canada Day on the beach! The variety of natural plants and animals found at Lazy lake ranges from at-risk Western painted turtles to rare plants and flowers. This naturally occurring flora and fauna is threatened by the arrival of invasive plants and animals which can unintentionally end up in and around the lake, thanks to human activity.

Members of EKISC and LLEA will be on hand at the beach to let visitors and campers know about invasive plants and animals and what we can do about them. Learn about how they can threaten the turtles, the plant life and even make the water dangerous to swim in. Find out how you can prevent the arrival of and spread of invasive species at Lazy Lake - and all your favourite lakes.

Stop by the booth on the beach from 9 am – 1 pm and take home some Canada Day giveaways and educational resources!

This event is supported by FortisBC through their Community Investment program.
